Bagged Vacuum Cleaner Reviews
Bagged Vacuum Cleaner Reviews – Bagged Vacuums are the Best Way to Clean!
I am a fan of the bagged vacuum cleaner!
Now I am a disenchanted house-cleaner at best – the first thing I do when I win the lottery is hire a staff. In the meanwhile, I really like products that work well the first time, last a long-time and don’t cause problems they were meant to solve.
I have found that vacuum cleaners that have bags – rather than the bag-less alternatives- collect dust better and relieve you from having to empty a cup and get dust back in your nose. Old-fashioned cleaners actually work better than those “bagless wonders!”
I myself own the Hoover that is reviewed below and I love it! The combination of light-weight upright and handy canister just can’t be beat.
But there are lots of other quality options that I have found. This lens will review great vacuums that use bags from several well-respected companies.
My Own Bagged Vacuum Choice
Hoover Platinum Collection Lightweight Bagged Upright with Canister, UH30010COM
And a great deal of research – I found this vacuum – and purchased it. I am very happy with it.
When I started this review I didn’t realize that one of my favorite cleaners would actually be from the most popular company associated with cleaning. I mean, it sounded kind of old and stodgy!
But I found that the Hoover Platinum Collection Bagged Corded Upright Vacuum with the addition of the Canister Vacuum Cleaner to be the best choice.
Hoover Platinum Lightweight Upright Vacuum with Canister, Bagged, UH30010COM is actually one of the best vacuums available – and for under $300. You get a lot when you purchase this product: a wonderful upright vacuum with an additional portable canister vacuum included.

The upright delivers powerful suction to remove dirt from your carpets while the canister tackles all your above floor cleaning needs. It weighs 27.8 pounds for ease in cleaning. There is a full compliment of attachments – gadget lovers delight!
You will be well-served when you purchase this vacuum!
History of the Hoover Company
The very first upright machine was invented by American janitor James Murphy Spangler, who guested correctly that the carpet sweeper he was using was contributing to his asthma. I am grateful to him, as we fight asthma as well in our household. Hoover was started in Ohio, but became so popular that “hoovering” became synonymous with “vacuuming.” This company was innovative from the beginning: being the first to use brushes to loosen dirt as well as suction.
The Evolution of the Modern Electric Vacuum Cleaner
If you tried to clean your house before the days of electricity, you would be using manual cleaners that used bellows, maybe similar to the accordion. Even though that was heavy and not very effective – they were on the right track.
Daniel Hess is credited with creating the first carpet sweeper with a bit of a suction mechanism, again powered with a bellows.
You started hearing the name “Hoover” around 1908. There were many incremental improvements at that time. But in 1921 the product had a big moment because Electrolux Model V was created – and it was the first lightweight vacuum that was actually usable.
After World War II improvements continued both the upright and the canister.
Every improvement promised to be the latest and best.
One of the newest developments has been the robotic cleaners – the Roomba, which are little discs that run around scooping up dust and dirt.
Choose A Peaceful Vacuum – Avoid an Evil Vacuum Cleaner
Until I started researching to find the best bagged vacuum cleaner, I didn’t realize that some vacuums can’t handle their power. I had wondered, because my dog insists on attacking the vacuum like a fearsome enemy.
I do guarantee that none of the vacuums featured here will go back like this one did.
Watch and be aware.
A Canister or A Bagged Vacuum?
Choose a canister vacuum if you want a lightweight vacuum that is easier to tote up and down stairs, stores easily in a closet and maneuvers easily. Usually it is very easy to push the small head of a canister vacuum. Choose an upright vacuum if pushing a heavier vacuum is not a problem and you like the ease of having the vacuum all in one piece. Some upright vacuums come with telescopic hose that makes cleaning staircases a breeze.
Oreck Bagged Vacuum Cleaners that Stand the Test of Time
The first time I heard about the advantages of a vacuum with bags was on an Oreck commercial. David Oreck founded his company with passion to create options for house-cleaners – from homemakers to hotel maids who have to vacuum many rooms a day to be able to do their work quickly without breaking their back on heavy machines.
The Oreck Magnesium is particularly light due to the material. I am able to life it easily – I tried in a vacuum store.
An Oreck vacuum is well-made – almost all of them proudly manufactured in the USA.
Compact and easy to maneuver, yet strong enough to pick up the dust. Weighs just ten pounds and comes with several tools and wands so that it can reach everywhere.

Don’t worry, it’s strong but not that strong.
What do you factor in when making the decision which bagged vacuum to purchase?
After sorting through all these reviews meant to help you decide what is the best bagged vacuum: how do you decide? First of all decide whether you want a canister or an upright. Canisters store easier in your closets, and can be more lightweight to push around. Uprights can be easier to maneuver as you can see where you are going. Also decide if you want a commercial or a vacuum meant for home use. Commercial vacuums are very sturdy, but they are also basic – there are more vacuums with bells and whistles that are home based. Then you have to make the decision on exactly which manufacturer and model you are going to choose.
How to choose the Best Bagged Vacuum cleaner for You
Need Help in Sorting Through All the Information?
Consider the following:
All of the vacuums I listed are under $400 – You can Get a Vacuum Under $100 but for the Longest Lasting Vacuum it seems You need to think About at Least $200 with the Amazon discount
My dream vacuums are either the Miele Twist Upright Vacuum or Miele S2121 Olympus Canister Vacuum Cleaner. These are lower end Miele vacuums – which can sell for thousands, and yet you still get Miele quality. Miele vacuums are just consistently well made.
The Hoover Platinum Lightweight Upright Vacuum with Canister is also a fabulous vacuum cleaning combination. Remember that this is actually two vacuums in one – a great upright with superior cleaning functions to clean carpet – as well as bare-floor, and a handheld canister vacuum with a carrying strap. Also included is a dusting brush, crevice tool, and telescoping wand. Note you are saving almost one hundred dollars with the Amazon discount, so you are coming in at a little over $200 for an extremely quality vacuum that will last you for years. I guess I liked this vacuum well enough to buy it myself – and I have been totally pleased!
When it comes to bagged vacuums you will not go wrong with any of the Oreck products, they are the first name in vacuums that use bags and stand behind their product. There are special benefits to the different Oreck products however, for instance the Oreck Magnesium is the lightest vacuum of all – at just 7 pounds! Magnesium is a very lightweight element and it makes for a strong upright that is easy to push. I tried this one at the vacuum store and I was just amazed, I could twirl it around.
The Oreck Quest Canister Vacuum is a great canister vacuum from Oreck for less than two hundred dollars.
Eureka vacuums – which were bought out by Electrolux several years ago, and still kept the same quality – are an excellent choice as well. This is one of the oldest names in Vacuum Cleaners. The Electrolux Oxygen Canister Vacuum Cleaner, EL6988EZX
is an excellent canister vacuum for a little over three hundred dollars, and the Eureka Boss and the Eureka Sanitaire are great as well. I featured are excellent bargain vacuums with quality that will last.
