Best Stainless Steel Percolator
I did not intentionally set out to find the best stainless steel percolator the day that my beloved thermal drip coffee maker gave out after quite a few years of daily use. I did begin thinking about what I would replace it with and how much plastic was coming into contact with my most treasured daily brew. I have no idea of how many toxins have leeched into that coffee from the plastic all those years, but it couldn’t be good. I always meant to replace it with something better, but the cost had me putting it off. Well, I no longer have that excuse.
I am so aware of how much plastic we use on a daily basis and try my best to control how much my family uses as I sit here with a load of non-working plastic on my countertop. Of course, I will recycle it but it still bothers me that I had bought it in the first place. No sense dwelling on that now, so off I went to begin my search for a new all stainless steel coffee maker.
The Best Stainless Steel Coffee Maker Search
Oh my goodness! Have you been looking for a coffee maker lately? It is unbelievable just how many different types are available. How in the world do you sift through that mess to find a good one that will last? I was quite overwhelmed, but the thought of no coffee got me past that pretty quick.
I began at Amazon filtering out the qualities I desired in the perfect coffee maker for me. I would love a coffee maker that was all stainless steel, a thermal carafe, a removable water tank, reasonable price, and maybe even a built-in grinder.
My first search was for an ALL stainless steel coffee maker. Ugh! Only about 1800 models to sift through. I started scrolling through these and noticed it is very hard to find an all stainless steel drip coffee maker. In fact, I finally gave up as every drip coffee maker had plastic that would come into contact with either the water or coffee. Usually, the plastic was found in the water tank or the coffee filter basket.
Here is an example of a drip coffee maker with minimal plastic on the inside. It is a bit more than I had planned to spend, so I am going to keep searching, but I am saving this one just in case.

What About a Stainless Steel Percolator?
As I kept browsing through all of the coffee makers these electric stainless steel percolators kept popping up. I had never thought about a percolator before and did not really know much about them. I remember my mother and grandma having one on their kitchen counters, but aren’t they outdated? Do they make good coffee? Will it last the 2-3 pots that we make a day? Why would they still be around if they did not work?
All of the questions had me researching stainless steel percolators and I was beginning to like what I found. First was the price, below $50, awesome! These actually were made of ALL stainless steel with no plastic on the inside and minimal on the outside. The majority of reviews stated that they made great coffee.
I think at this price a stainless steel percolator is worth a try! Here are just a few that I found to choose from.

What I Love About The Hamilton Beach Stainless Steel Percolator
First and foremost to me, it is almost all stainless steel. I gave on this point a smidgen as I really liked the idea of having a water level viewing window. I do not have to measure the water before pouring it in. This window, which is quite convenient is made of plastic. So if you are looking for an ALL stainless steel coffee maker with no plastic, you may wish to check out the Hamilton Beach Stainless Steel Electric Percolator without water level viewing window.
Second, which could also be first is that the coffee tastes great. This leaves me wondering as to why drip coffee makers became so popular. The coffee comes out HOT and tastes so much better than my drip coffee maker has ever made. It tastes smoother and has no bitter taste at all.
No more paper filters! Inside The Hamilton Beach Stainless Steel Percolator you will find a stainless steel coffee basket. So there is no need for paper filters. Now this basket does allow a minimal amount of grounds to end up in the coffee, so you can use a paper filter if you like, but I found that they really are minimal and using in the bottom of the pot.
Do you hate all of the space that our small appliances take up on the countertop? I sure do, but I love how much less space me new percolator takes up compared to my old drip coffee maker.
Although I no longer hear the familiar beep, beep, beep when my coffee is done, you can clearly hear when the coffee is done percolating, and there is a nifty little indicator light that goes from blue to green. This light is also handy to help remind me that the pot is still plugged in when I get my last cup.
For some reason, I always thought that percolated coffee took a long time to make. This is not the case at all. I have not timed it, but it only takes a few minutes to brew an entire 12 cup pot. I guess the one thing I do miss about my old dip maker was that it had a timer. I loved waking up to coffee already done. I still put the coffee and water in the night before so that in the morning all I have to do is plug it in. That helps when you do not function so well before that first cup.
I have had this Hamilton Beach Stainless Steel Percolator for a few months now and I still love it and the coffee that it makes. I will have to update this as I see how my new favorite coffee maker ages.

Stainless Steel Percolator Filters
I do not have a problem with the tiny bit of grounds in the bottom of my coffee cup or the coffee pot. I love the fact that I do not have to buy coffee filters which not only saves me money but may also save a few trees.
If you cannot stand the thought of coffee grounds in the bottom of your cup, no worries. You can use these paper filters. They will fit perfectly in the bottom of the stainless steel filter basket and keep them out of your cup.

Did You Know You Can Still Buy Stove Top Coffee Percolators?
I think this will be my next coffee maker purchase. It would be great on hand for emergencies. They are also awesome for camping or just to have a back-up. Our appliances always seem to give out at the most inopportune time. Of course, they would also be great for everyday use, I would have to make sure to set a timer or risk forgetting and burning the pot up.
