There was a time when I didn’t even realize that vampires were cool and then I found Buffy the Vampire Slayer and took tours around the Buffyverse!

The Buffyverse was the science fiction universe that grew up around the high school girl Buffy. Buffy was just like a regular pretty high school girl – except she had a sacred duty to slay vampires.

Yes, vampires and monsters were real , and the eternal fight between them was fascinating.

I recently got into watching episode after episode, and thinking at work about teen-age girl who had been chosen by the powers that be to kill vampires and demons. Buffy had a “Watcher” dedicated just for her, and a loyal group of friends who stuck beside her to help her.

The fact was that she fell in love with a vampire with a soul – actually two. Plus she saved the world more times than you can imagine.

Willow, the powerful witch that was a primary part of Buffy and had guest appearances in Angel was my favorite character in the whole series.

She was brainy, sensitive and sweet – until she got her heart broken. She went from goofy and awkward, to powerful to evil and then to good, and the tale of how she learned to deal with her amazing power will not be soon forgotten. The story of Willow’s love with Tara was one of the first lesbian romances on TV and it captured our hearts.

The Villains of Buffy

Every hero needs a villain, and the villains of Buffy the vampire slayer were unforgettable.

The villains were vampires of course. Especially Angel and Spike – the vicious vampires who were eventually ensouled. There were storybook villains, monsters of all kinds and evil witches. There were Old Demons like Illyria – all amazing.
