All Dr. Seuss books are my favorites! The Cat in the Hat is one of the most famous characters that Dr. Seuss created, and The Cat in the Hat Comes Back is a delightful continuation of the madcap havoc that Dr. Seuss created for little people and their parents with the original The Cat in the Hat.

That Cat was a total scamp – one we loved to read about, and our kids will still.

Dr. Seuss created many memorable characters – but the Cat in the Hat is one that most people would recognize on the street.

Even though the Cat in Hat had a simple vocabulary, Dr. Seuss had to work six months to bring it all together! Cat in the Hat revolutionized children’s books – taking them from simple boring Dick and Jane books to reading that was actually fun.

Getting kids to read was a hot topic in the year Cat in the Hat was created.

The book “Why can’t Johnny Read?” had been just been published.

Dr. Seuss took on the challenge of creating a reader kids would like to read – and especially had read to them. Dr. Seuss is a poet for kids – his books are made to be read out loud.

He was given a list of a few hundred simple words and he was asked to come up with a new reader. This was difficult for him, and he struggled with the project for months. It is told that he at one point said that he would base the story on the first two words from the list that rhymed.

He found two easy to work with words “cat” and “hat” One of the words was “cat.” The other was “hat.”

Cat in the Hat made Dick and Jane say bye -bye.

People have loved to have stories read to them and told to them from the beginning of time. It is one of the most popular activities in all classrooms.

Dr. Seuss used sound of language to help bring kids in to the wonderful word of reading.
