Charles Darwin Shirts & Gifts

Charles Darwin Shirts & Gifts, by Cartesian Bear

Charles Darwin was the Victorian-era biologist best known for popularizing the concept of evolution, and for hinting that humans may have evolved, too. His book, On the Origin of Species, is considered one of the most important scientific works of the 19th century.

These products feature a portrait of Charles Darwin, with his birthday (February 12, 1809) underneath. The portrait was originally an engraving, digitally enhanced to look good when printed onto a variety of products using modern methods. The text underneath, Darwin’s name and birth date, are printed using a font popular in the mid 1800s.

There are many other products out there that show Charles Darwin, but this image avoids the silliness or crudeness many other images show. I’d like to think that if Mrs. Darwin wanted a t-shirt with her husband’s image, she’d choose this one.

The products make great gifts for biologists, science teachers, paleontologists, and those who want to make a subtle political statement about evolution. Available only from Cartesian Bear, part of the SCientist’s Birthday Collection. Other scientists in the collection include Leonardo daVinci, Isaac Newton, Nicola Tesla, Gallileo, and our newest addition, Thomas Edison.

Most popular are the t-shirts, stickers and neckties. Ties? I guess a biology teacher might want one.
