Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie Recipe
A chocolate strawberry smoothie rocked my world today! After a session of hot yoga this morning, I decided I needed a cold treat that would offer me a little protein and iron to boot. I daydreamed of my smoothie the whole way home from the gym, carefully deciding what ingredients I would throw into the blender.
Seriously, I did!!
Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie Ingredients
Here is what I opted to toss in the blender:
- 1 cup whole organic strawberries
- 1/2 cup organic plain yogurt
- 1/4 cup raw whole milk
- 1 tablespoon organic maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons Hershey’s Special Dark cocoa
- 1 tablespoon Garden of Life – Extra Virgin Coconut Oil 100% Organic, 16 fl oz oil
- 1 cup of ice made with filtered water
Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie Recipe Instructions
You’ll want to start by putting the first 5 ingredients into the blender and blending well. Then with the blender running on low, lift the lid just enough to throw in the tablespoon of coconut oil. Coconut oil becomes a solid below 76 degrees, so adding it with the blender running on low helps prevent clumping. After that is blended well, turn off the blender, add the cup of ice, and turn the blender back on high until blended well. Pour this delicious concoction into a tall glass and enjoy!
This is about 350 calories, but the health benefits and the satisfying taste are WELL worth it!!!
