Friends of the Park has a busy October
Whew! All of the members of Friends of the Park who love Veterans Park are going to be mighty busy this October with our Maintenance Day at the Playground, our monthly meeting, Chili’s day for Friends of the Park and the Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend Fundraiser.
Every year we celebrate the “birthday” of the playground by having a maintenance day. Volunteers arrive at 8:30 and are divided into work groups with some hauling mulch, some staining the pickets, others patching Trotter’s Trail or clearing brush. There is so much to do and we are always excited to see our volunteers arrive ready to work. We do take a break and enjoy some Birthday Cake. It is hard to believe that it has been 6 years since our community came together to build Barrett’s Place Playground.
Then on October 17, we will have our last Friends of the Park meeting for the year. We will be electing new officers at that time and look forward to knowing who our new leaders will be.
Then it will be off to Chili’s in Anderson SC where they will be donating 10% of their sales to Friends of the Park.
But wait, that’s not all! On October 29, we will have a super fun fundraiser called “Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend” with Alumni Softball Games, Games and Activities for the children, food and craft vendors, and some surprises! It will be a fun day at Veterans Park from 10 to 5.
Sounds like you have a lot of fun things planned!
You folks sure are busy in Pendleton! See ya Saturday for Fall Festival!
