LEGO Star Wars was originally released in 1999 and included the original x-wing fighter, model 7140. During 1999 – 2008 lego released many star wars lego sets that coincided with the release of the star wars movies. The LEGO star wars sets included many of the popular ships and scenes from the star wars movies. The star wars lego sets have been so popular that Lego has extended the original licenses to continue making new Lego Star Wars sets until 2016.

Lego Star Wars Ultimate Collectors series

With the popularity of the Star Wars movies and the LEGO Star Wars mini sets Lego introduced the Ultimate Collectors series. The Ultimate series featured limited edition sets that was much larger in scale and included mini figures and many came with a display stand, plaque and detailed information about the set and was meant for display and collectors. The most popular of the Ultimate Collectors Star Wars sets was the release of the Millennium Falcon, that came with 5 mini figures and 5195 pieces . The Millennium Falcon was the largest Lego set ever released and the 2nd largest set ever made for commercial release.
