Make Your Own Apple Cider Vinegar!

The Benefits Of Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar, or ACV, has been shown to have many great uses around the house and in your health and beauty routines. Apple Cider Vinegar can:

• Lower glucose levels, which is helpful for those with borderline diabetes

• Help reduce gas, bloating and heartburn

• Serve as an excellent cleaning product – it’s antibacterial and absorbs odors

• Be used as a hair rinse, making your hair smoother and shinier. It also helps with dandruff, greasy build-up and scalp irritation

• Clear up blemishes. For healthier skin, wash your face with a diluted solution of ACV or dab it full-strength directly to blemishes

• Be diluted for use as a great treatment for sunburn. If you’re sunburned all over, add a cupful to the tub and take a soak

• Be used as a great deodorant because it absorbs and neutralizes odors. You can apply ACV directly to your underarms, where it will be quickly absorbed.

• Cure Athlete’s Foot. Soak your feet in a 50/50 ACV and water solution. You can also put the mixture in a spray bottle and spray the infected areas AND the insides of your shoes for 2 – 4 weeks until all the fungus has been killed.

• Fade age spots. Mix a Tbs of orange juice with 2 Tbs ACV and apply them to any dark spots you may have.

• Be used to make homemade, non-chemical insect repellent. Combine about 2 oz. of full-strength ACF in a small spray bottle with 20 or so drops of your favorite essential oil.

Now that you know just how useful Apple Cider Vinegar can be, you might want to go ahead and make your own! It’s very easy and inexpensive – just follow this easy recipe:

• A large wide-mouthed jar
• One paper towel
• One rubber band

• Cores and peels from 6 – 8 apples (depending on the size of your jar)
• 2 Tbs Honey
• Water to cover

• Place the apples cores and peels into your jar. This recipes was designed for a 4-cup jar, but you can adjust it to fit your needs.

• Put enough water in the jar to cover all the apple scraps

• Stir the honey into the scraps/water mixture

• Place a paper towel over the top of the jar and secure it with a rubber band

• Let the mixture ferment for at least 2 weeks

• Strain out the liquid from the mixture. (You can then use the apple scraps for composting if desired!)

• Return the liquid to the jar and cover it with a new paper towel, securing it with a rubber band.

• Let the mixture ferment for about another 4 weeks, making sure to stir daily
