Creating a Baby Boys Nursery

Choose from a rocker or glider.

The curtains in baby’s room should block out light, so he can sleep better, and if you live in a colder climate, consider thermal backed panels to help keep the cold out, too.

Your job is to make your baby as comfortable and safe as possible. Make sure plush animals and pillows remain out of the crib when your baby is in there. Dress him in weather-appropriate sleepers, and don’t use blankets for sleeping until he is old enough to move items away from his face and roll over on his own.

Your baby boy’s nursery should be a haven for him to retreat to in sweet slumber and relaxation. You will be spending many hours in there with him, so make sure you love the space, and you’ll enjoy it together for a long time.

Start with a Paint Color You Love!

Before you begin putting any furniture, crib bedding, and other decorations in your baby boy’s nursery, start with a paint color that is calming and gender appropriate.

Many people opt for a shade of blue, however other colors that work well for baby boys include grey, green, tan, etc. Or paint three walls white, and paint one accent wall a bold color such as red, orange, or gold.

Keep in mind the the crib should be near a soothing color, so your baby can relax and sleep better. Bright bold colors can keep children awake, cause headaches, and cause a baby/child to be hyper. You don’t want that when you want your baby to sleep.

Your child’s nursery of course should include a crib, but other furniture might include a rocking chair or glider, a dresser or chest, a changing table, and other furniture as you desire and have room for.
