About Peter Max

Peter Max is a German-born American graphic artist and illustrator. He is best known for his use of psychedelic shapes and bold, saturated colors.

His immense and diverse body of work has been exhibited in museums all over the world.

Born on October 9th, this Libra artist is one of the most famous of all living artists.
His uplifting images, and his whole Cosmic 60s art style have made him a Pop Culture icon.
He has inspired Americans and the whole world for more than four decades.

Max works in a multitude of media including painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, etchings, print making, video and digital imagery.

Peter Maxs art is on display in Presidential Libraries and in U.S. Embassies. He has painted for six U.S. Presidents.

He has also been Official Artist of 5 Super Bowls, The World Series, The U.S. Open, World Cup USA, The Indy 500, The Kentucky Derby and The NYC Marathon.

Liberty Head

Max has painted the statute of Liberty, Lady Liberty annually since Americas Bicentennial.

Abrams Books published what would become one of the best-selling art books ever, The Art Of Peter Max, in 2002.

In 2013 Harper Collins published a book of Peter Maxs memoirs called, The Universe of Peter Max. In the book, Max relates stories of his life and also descriptions and thoughts about some of his artwork.
