This great genuine sapphire necklace is one of my favorites because there are so many options. You can choose from rose, white or yellow gold and chain lengths from 18-24 inches, all for under that $200 price point. The sapphire in this handsome necklace is not heated treated. The natural blue is even more precious. The oval shape is very flattering to almost everybody.

The natural flower pendant is very cute. I love wearing necklaces with a bit of whimsy – like this flower. This half-carat non-treated sapphire is stunning. It is available in a 14K gold pendant, from 18 – 24 inches.

Sapphire was one of the original birthstones mentioned in the Bible

One of the first places we hear of the concept of using birthstones was from the Bible. In Exodus 28: 17-21 the Lord of Israel was to have told Moses “Fashion a breast-piece for making decisions–the work of a skilled craftsman……..and in verse 21 we read “There are to be twelve stones, one for each of the names of the sons of Israel, each engraved like a seal with the name of one of the twelve tribes of Israel.”

Sapphire was one of the original birthstones along with ruby, topaz, beryl, turquoise, sapphire, jacinth, agate, amethyst, chrysolite, onyx and jasper.

There is possibility that it wasn’t actually sapphire, but another blue stone. Probably September’s other birthstone: lapis lazuli.

But the idea of having Royal sapphire in service to our Heavenly Father is ancient.
