History of the Victorinox Swiss Army Watch

Victorinox Swiss Army started in 1884 as a cutlery workshop to deliver a soldier knife to the Swiss army. Karl Elsener was the original founder of this sturdy knife with its many functions combined in a single tool. This invention has since become a legend in the knife industry.

Victorinox Manufacturing company is based in the town of Ibach, Switzerland. The Company acquired their rival company Wenger in 2005. Victorinox has become the sole supplier of multi-purpose knives to the Swiss Army.

Victorinox has since branched into other items which includes exceptional quality watches for men and women. These watches began as modest inexpensive models that were built to withstand highly active use. These original models, which are still produced today in the “Swiss Army Original Collection”, have nylon straps, composite cases, water resistant and highly legible dials.

Today, Victorinox Swiss Army Watches have expanded into more diverse styles and types of watches. In their collection are dive watches, dress watches, watches with mechanical movements and more. Most of the watches feature ETA movements, which are the same movement in higher end watches such as Tag Heuer and Omega. The Swiss Army name may not have the high end brand name such as the two mentioned here, but you can be assured that the quality of these watches are up to par without the much higher price tag.
