3 Things To Do With Sour Cream
Need Some Ideas For Using That Sour Cream In The Fridge?
I don’t know about you, but I can’t imagine ever opening up my fridge without seeing a tub of sour cream in it.
I use it on so many meals, it makes everything a “comfort food” to me when I slather it on top, or stir it in a sauce.
Here are three quick ideas for how to use up the last bit of cream in the fridge!
1. Dollop!!!! On just about anything
There is no hot savoury meal that I can think of that would not be improved by simply plopping a big dollop of sour cream on top!
Be it a baked potato… with a dollop of sour cream, cheese, butter, spring onions… yum!
Or a simple bowl of potato wedges! Add a bit of sauce and a dollop of cream and you have the perfect snack!
Nauchos… need I say more? Can you imagine it without? A plate of corn chips, some salsa, some sliced avocado, grated cheese, head it up, then dollop a huge blob of sour cream on top to dip your cornchips in!
How many more ways can you think to Dollop your cream?
2. Stir In… Yummy Sauces
Lets talk here about Sauces that become instant comfort food when you stir in a couple of spoonfulls of sour cream.
Chilli Con Carne… excuse me, but can you imagine not having a dollop of sour cream stirred into the hot bean mix?
Goulash… not possible to enjoy without sour cream, right?
Curry. I can’t eat that dry spicy tasting sauce unless there is at least a side of sour cream to help make it smooth and more umami in my mouth.
Prawn sauce… at a pinch just stir some tomato sauce with some sour cream and start dipping.

Stir In That Goodness!
I’m a taco guy, so I like Mexican food, and any form of a taco, I’m going to eat it. During the season, I’ll make it a grilled chicken taco. But after the season, give me a regular beef taco and fill it to capacity. I need meat, cheese, sour cream, lettuce, pico de gallo, and everything you got.

3. Dip In It!!
Dipping food in Sour Cream is done more often than you think.
So many Dips are made with sour cream that you probably think are made with cream cheese.
And just about any hot nibble food always tastes better when dunked into some sour cream or sauce with cream in it.
Sour Cream Dip Base:
16 oz sour cream
2 tbsp dried onions or chop some red onion finely
1 tbsp chopped parsley
3 tsp worcestershire sauce
2 tsp powder garlic or 2 cloves chopped
1 1/2 tsp dried dill or favourite herb
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp sweet paprika powder
1 tsp mustard or mustard powder
salt and pepper
Stir together all ingredients.
Refrigerate for a a couple of hours before serving.
Serve it up in a bowl with a sprinkling of something colourful on top ( like chopped parsley/dill or powder paprika or finely chopped red pepper/chilli)
Remember to keep it cool, don’t leave it out for hours on end or it will spoil. Just pop it back in the fridge to chill it down again if its been left out for an hour or more.
Simple Vege Cream Dip
16oz sour cream
3 Tblsp chives or spring/green onions, finely chopped
2 tsp onion powder
good pinch of salt

Like you, we almost always have a tub of sour cream in the fridge. We use it mostly on burritos and baked potatoes. Occasionally it gets used in a recipe. It really adds a lot!
