Toddler Scooters Buyers Guide
Best Scooters for Toddlers
When it comes to choosing the best scooter for your toddler there are a few different features that you will want to consider to pick the right scooter for your child. Here you can find an overview of the top features that are a must when buying a toddlers scooter.
Number of Wheels
Naturally the first thing you must consider is the number of wheels on the scooter. Most scooters for young children have 3 or 4 wheels. A 2 wheel scooter is not suitable for a toddler as they are not able to balance well enough to stay upright.
Quality made
The scooter you choose should be sturdy and stable. Many scooters have extra features for stability and safety for younger kids. The addition of two front wheels can help make a scooter more stable and makes it easier for your toddler to steer as well as keep their balance. Scooters that are lower to the ground are also a good choice as they are easier for toddlers to manage when getting on and off.
Steering
Steering is important too, not just how it is steered but how easy the handles move. Some are quite stiff and make it difficult and on the other hand some are too loose and make it hard for your child to keep going straight when needed. You might also want to look for one that has adjustable handle bars. These are a great idea and prolong the use of the scooter for your child.
Materials
Most of the scooters that are available for toddlers today are adjustable and are designed to last for many years, certainly until the child is 5 or 6 which is great for your child and great for your pocket! The material that the scooter is made from is one of the most important things. It needs to be crack and dent proof if it’s going to last for a long time.
Weight & Portability
The last two features that you might want to take into consideration are the weight of the scooter and how portable it is. Many scooters can be folded so you can fold it up for travel, this makes them extremely portable and ideal for a day out or for tucking under the push chair when on a long walk. A folding scooter takes up less storage space too! For the above reasons it should also be lightweight, light enough for travel and light enough for your child to carry themselves when they are a little older. At the same time it shouldn’t be too light that it doesn’t feel sturdy.
Does it fold?
This is a very useful feature. Foldable scooters are good when you’re out and about and your toddler has had enough of their scooter. You can then fold it up and carry it. It’s so much easier than carrying a scooter you can’t fold up. You can fold up the scooter and hang it on the back of a push chair. This could not be done with a scooter that does not fold. Folding scooters take up less space to store and are easier to transport as well.
